Read along in Floris’ diary about Junior French

Ten-year-old Floris joined the Junior French language camp. In his diary, he shares all the adventures he experienced.

Welcome to Hogwarts

Today, my magical adventure at the French language camp started. When we arrived, three super fun language labs were being explained to us. I chose Grimoiristique, where we made a magical book of spells. After a delicious lunch of fish sticks, porridge, and spinach we helped teacher Cyril. The Death Eaters had torn up the map of the Marauder, and we had to discover the pieces by completing assignments. We did it and got rewarded with a cool Roeland bracelet! In the evening, we attended a funny play with Cyril, Manu and Anthony. Anthony transformed himself into a chicken. Hilarious!

An exciting quest

We kicked off the day with music and breakfast. In the workshop I picked up novel words, like the names of the seasons and the months, and we made chocolate mousse. Tasty AND educational! We played some sporty games afterwards, like rugby football and we performed in a crazy circus act. In the afternoon, I continued working on my magic book of spells and we organized a thrilling werewolf game. My team discovered the most werewolves, hence: we won! In the evening, I could take my pick from a variety of fun activities: I made a bracelet, and I played Mario Cart. The play also continued: this time, Anthony became invisible, and Manu tried a new spell. Overly excited about what’s going to happen tomorrow.

To Plopsaqua

Today was amazing! First, we continued working on our creative projects, but then we went to Plopsaqua. We went down slides, swam in the river and had fun with the teachers in the wave pool.

We had ice cream before we returned, and back home we had meatballs in a tomato sauce and French fries for supper. A we got to watch a Harry Potter movie as a surprise. Magical! Tomorrow I am sure a new day filled to the brim with adventure awaits us.

Birthday and labyrinth

Today was Amély’s birthday, so we started off the day with a song for her. Today’s workshop topics were animals and family. And afterwards, I picked hockey for sports activity of the day. Great fun! The big game was spectacular: first, we had to find the teachers who were hiding all over the place. Then there was a labyrinth where we had to cooperate as a team to find the exit. Our reward? Fun candy that tasted bizarre! We ended the afternoon with a water fight. In the evening, I made macramé bracelets, and I watched the play, in which Emma and Manu liked each other but Anthony got a bit jealous. I wonder what will happen tomorrow.

The wizard’s ball

Our final day became an unforgettable one! In the language lab we repeated all the French words we learned this week. I made new friends, and I felt really proud. In the afternoon, we presented the results of our creative projects: I finished my magic book of spells, and the other students made a great movie and some impressive stage decoration pieces. It was amazing to see all this! To finish the day, we attended a huge party. We ate macaroni and we danced all evening. The camp week was fantastic. I learned a lot, I laughed and made a bunch of new friends. I’m really going to miss Roeland!
