Planeet Nederlands

5, 4, 3, 2, 1,... Lift-off! Step aboard our spaceship and discover the wonderful world of Planet Dutch. The space theme turns this camp into an out-of-this-world experience not just figuratively, but literally as well.

Are you not yet fluent in Dutch? Or are you just looking for extra opportunities to practise speaking the language? Thanks to the alternation between language workshops and activities in Dutch and breaks during which participants can speak their native language, this camp offers the ideal environment to discover and further strengthen your Dutch in a relaxed atmosphere. We don't just push boundaries in terms of language skills. Thanks to the space theme, as brand-new astronauts we discover new corners of the universe every day, where new surprises and adventures await us time and time again. Don't worry, we won't just send you off into space unprepared: you will receive real astronaut training at the Euro Space Centre*. If that doesn't send you to seventh heaven, we don't know what will. Register now and become part of our crew on this unforgettable journey.

Activities

Relaxed language workshops in small groups ensure that you will improve your Dutch every day.

Thanks to plenty of sports and big games, you will get more than enough exercise, all in a wonderful environment.

We will spend a day on at the Euro Space Centre in Libin. Do you have what it takes to become an astronaut?

In the evening, we enjoy each other's company over board games and a drink, or let ourselves be surprised by the coolest theme nights. Be sure to bring your best party outfit, because we will end the day with an out-of-this-world party!

Excursions

We will visit astronaut school at the Euro Space Centre in Libin, where you can test equipment that real astronauts use to simulate life without gravity. Exciting!

If we are unable to visit the Euro Space Centre due to limited availability, we will replace the outing with a visit to Rochefort, with its count's castle and the Lorette cave – a dive into nature and history.

DiscoveryPartial Immersion

At these camps for beginners, you are still allowed to speak in your mother tongue with other participants. The group leaders will use the target language (e.g. French during a French camp) throughout the camp, while helping you to learn as many new words and sentences as possible. To make sure that everyone can follow along easily, each day features a ‘bilingual moment’, when the activities will be explained in both the target language and your mother tongue.

During playful language workshops, you will be divided into small groups according to your level. The focus on language continues throughout the other activities as well, however. As your knowledge of the target language grows, we will increasingly challenge you to speak the target language, thus ensuring that you will learn how to express yourself more confidently by the end of the week.

Don’t know much Dutch yet?

Haven’t learned much Dutch at school yet? Don’t worry! Bilingual moments ensure that everyone will be able to grasp the activities easily. Thanks to the continuous and tireless support of our volunteers, you will find yourself making progress in no time. You might just find that you’ve advanced a year’s worth of time in just one week!

The language workshops, sports and games are in Dutch, but are adapted to the beginner level. Instruction is provided in the participants’ mother tongue where necessary. During the breaks in between activities and before bedtime, everyone is given the choice whether they want to relax for a while in their mother tongue, or continue talking in Dutch.
