Junior Dutch - Groetjes uit Gent
Nice to meet you! There is no better place to take your first steps towards speaking Dutch than the beautiful city of Ghent. Through playing games, singing songs and taking part in all kinds of fun activities, you will soon learn how to introduce yourself to your new friends, how to ask for directions or what your favourite animal is called, all in Dutch!
Activities
- Playful language workshops in small groups. Each language workshop focuses on a different theme: animals, the weather, the city, etc.
- Fun workshops (e.g. arts and crafts, a dance workshop, etc.). There is something for everyone!
- You will be sure to get plenty of exercise thanks to the sports and big games on offer!
- Singing sessions! We bet you'll be singing these catchy Dutch songs for years to come!
- Our visit to Antwerp Zoo provides the perfect setting to practice the names of various animals in Dutch. Look, a lion!
Excursion
Mere minutes after get off the train in Antwerp, you’ll find yourself in the middle of the jungle, spotting lions, giraffes and even elephants at the Antwerp Zoo. We’re willing to bet that you will be able to name each of the animals in Dutch. In the afternoon, we discover the secrets of Antwerp, the city on the River Scheldt. A day to remember for sure!
Entry-level campPartial immersion
At these camps for beginning speakers, you can still speak your native language with other participants. During bilingual moments, you will receive information in Dutch and in your native language so that you understand everything well. At all other times, the camp coaches will only speak the target language and help you learn as many new words and phrases as possible.
You will learn the language during playful language workshops in small groups adapted to your level and there is also a lot of attention to language during the other activities. As your knowledge of the target language grows, we will increasingly challenge you to speak the target language. That way, you will learn to express yourself more and more fluently!

Nieuwen Bosch
Nieuwen Bosch is an oasis of peace and calm tucked away in the centre of historical Ghent. Beneath the site’s tall trees, you will find a multi-purpose sports hall, volleyball, mini-football and basketball courts, a recently refurbished playground and a spacious theatre. Summer camps in Oostakker: Camp participants sleep in single rooms.
