GO BACKDiscover Dutch in the Netherlands
Tucked behind the Salland ridge, we find Heino Summer camp. From this natural location we will discover nature together as well as the Dutch language. You will learn the basics for expressing yourself in Dutch, and we will try to apply that knowledge immediately during activities and outings: order the ingredients for the barbecue yourself and scream Dutch swear words on one of the many roller coasters at adventure park Hellendoorn. You can learn Dutch by living it!
Activities
- At this camp we will mainly be focusing on playful discovery of the Dutch language. We will practice the basics of Dutch once or twice a day in small groups based on language level. We will then try to apply that knowledge in a focused way during a variety of activities. The camp coaches, whose native language is Dutch, will speak Dutch all the time, but we provide bilingual moments so that everyone understands everything.
- Participants are allowed to speak their home language in between, but are encouraged to speak Dutch as often as possible.
- The location is a paradise for adventure-seekers: under professional supervision, you can try out archery or the high rope course, go canoeing, build rafts, play laser tag and more. There are not only numerous sports fields, but also a swimming pool, a movie theatre and even a private beach!
- In the evenings we will be socialising, playing board games or hanging out by the campfire. We will be organising a barbecue, baking pizza together or taking a seat in the great old-fashioned cinema for a film (in Dutch, of course). The camp will finish with a fabulous party in the one and only “bus-bar”, so get ready for some serious dancing fun!
Excursions
In Hellendoorn amusement park you can ride one of the many spectacular roller coasters, but you will also find a fantastic water park full of slides and other water attractions. Whether you want to chill in the water or scream on the rollercoasters, there really is something for everyone!
Type of camp: entry-level camp
At these camps for beginning speakers, you can still speak your native language with other participants. During bilingual moments, you will receive information in Dutch and in your native language so that you understand everything well. At all other times, the camp coaches will only speak the target language and help you learn as many new words and phrases as possible. You will playfully learn the language during language workshops in small groups adapted to your level and there is also a lot of attention to language during the other activities. As your knowledge of the target language grows, we will challenge you more and more to speak the target language. That way, you will learn to express yourself better and better in the target language!

Coach transport
Coach transport is not included in the basic price and amounts to 90 euros (return).
Location
Heino Summer camp is a prime location for outdoor activities, with its own private beach, swimming pool, high rope course, all kinds of sports facilities (tennis, basketball, football, table tennis, beach volleyball, etc.), two large grass fields for big games and much more. The Sallandse Heuvelrug nature reserve and the Twents Reggedal are also located nearby. In the evening we will be enjoying the large campfire together or watching a movie in the cosy cinema. Camp participants sleep in snug dormitories for 4, 6 or 8 people. Boys and girls always have separate dormitories.
