Op avontuur in Nederland!
Do you want to heighten both your heart rate and your level of Dutch? Then this is the camp for you! At the end of the day, you will enjoy hanging out and chatting on the private beach or by the campfire, discussing your adventures on the high rope course, laser tag at the camp location or the trips you have made to Hellendoorn amusement park and the charming city of Groningen.
From our camp location in Salland, a beautiful nature-filled region tucked away in the north of the Netherlands, we will do everything we can to increase both your adrenaline level and your Dutch language level. We incorporate Dutch language and culture in an organic way - you will be taking part in activities which ensure that you will hardly have time to think about the fact that you are speaking another language.
The programme includes: the high rope course, canoeing and raft building at our camp location, there will also be day trips to beautiful Groningen and Hellendoorn amusement park, where spectacular roller coasters and phenomenal water attractions await you.
In the evenings, over a homemade pizza by the campfire, or in the sun on the beach during the rest days, there will be plenty of time to catch up and chat about your experiences with friends. But make the most of your rest-time because the next activity will be on before you know it!
Activities
- At this camp we will be focusing on making practical use of the Dutch language. We limit the number of language workshops to one or two a day. Instead, we will go out into the local area to speak to locals, making very practical use of the Dutch we have learned. Of course, this all happens under the guidance of our experienced group leaders who are native Dutch speakers.
- The location is a paradise for adventure-seekers: under professional supervision, you can try out archery or the high rope course, go canoeing, build rafts, play laser tag and more. There is a swimming pool, as well as a mini golf course and even a massive beach!
- In the evenings we will be socialising, playing board games or a fun quizz. We will be organising a barbecue, baking pizzas together or playing an exciting night game. The camp will finish with a fabulous party in the one and only “bus-bar”, so get ready for some serious dancing fun!
Excursions
The Netherlands may be known for being one of the Low Countries, but you can rest assured that we are aiming for high excitement levels with the excursions on this camp. In Hellendoorn amusement park you can ride one of the many spectacular roller coasters, but you will also find a fantastic water park full of slides and other water attractions. Thrill and chill combined, as it were. In Groningen, we will discover the real Netherlands: a vibrant city with a beautiful historic city centre and typical Dutch canals. We will stroll along the water and across the many charming market squares. From the roof of the Forum you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the whole ‘flat land’!
Type of camp: experience camp
The best way to learn a language is by experiencing it. That is our approach during the experience camps. The focus is less on language workshops, but rather on further acquiring the language by engaging with it. With the help of our camp coaches, you will debate in the target language, explore a city, learn a new (adventurous) sport or let your creativity run wild. Therefore, it is important for participants to have a good basic knowledge. We expect you to be able to understand simple conversations and instructions without much effort and to talk about simple topics (talk about yourself, express your feelings, ask simple questions). There may be fewer or no language workshops at these camps, but of course our camp coaches will continue to help you become increasingly fluent in the target language.
